Gabriel Garcia comes to Christian Brothers High School after a season at Rio Americano High School as the Head Freshman Baseball Coach. Gabe joined the CB baseball staff during the 2019 season. As a former junior college 1st team All-American and former scholarship recipient from the University of Nebraska, Coach Garcia prides himself on getting the most out of his players. He does this by teaching a “team first” mentality — Building up young men to be hard working, dedicated and unselfish. His coaching experience have been mostly at the junior college level at Canada College in Redwood City, CA, where he coached hitting for 3 years. He has also coached North Natomas Little League for 3 years from 2009—2012. As a player at Del Mar High School in San Jose CA, Coach Garcia was a 4-year starting catcher on varsity, making 1st team All-League 3 years and 2nd team as a Freshman. As a college freshman at San Jose City College, he batted .360 prior to transferring to Canada College. During his All-American season at Canada College in 1996 he played a key role as the clean-up hitter with the team winning the Coast Conference in which he batted 400. for the season. Coach Garcia then received a scholarship to the University of Nebraska where he batted .390 in the Big 12 Conference and had 7 HR’s, team leading 22 doubles and 58 RBI’s in 46 games. He brings a winning attitude, experience and a hands-on approach.
