Women's Soccer: On Friday night our Lady Falcons started their journey on section playoffs against Mira Loma. From the start of the game the Lady Falcons took control and didn’t let up. It was a night in where a lot of goals were scored and a lot of players were playing different positions. Even with game restrictions CB kept finding the back of the net. Junior Elisabeth Ledesma (2023)led the team with 3 goals. Senior Grace Cloete (2022) and Junior Brooklyn Horst (2023)both had a pair of goals. Lily Jensen (2023), Bailey Rakela (2025), Peyton MacDonald (2023) and Devin Greer (2024) all had a goal. Final score CB 12- Mira Loma 0. Next up Patterson this Wednesday at home, kickoff at 6pm.
Women's Basketball:
Varsity: First up this week was Sac High. Setting the tone early with the defensive pressure, the ladies took an early lead and was up 43-17 at half. Continuing with the same pace, CB pulled away and grabbed the win with a score of 76-33. Leading the way was Leah Nelson 24’ with 19 points and 4 assists, Jada Hunter ‘23 followed with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 9 steals and 6 assists. A great all around game, Jada! Kaia Foster ‘24 also knocked down 15 points, and grabbed 6 steals. Senior phenom Jene Wells was up to usual antics, being a terror on defense, with 8 deflections and 2 steals, she also chipped in 10 points. Freshman guard Aleyah Harmon added 9 points, 4 assists and 6 deflections to round out our top scorers.
Next up was El Camino, in true CB form, the smothering defense caused an issue for The Eagles early. CB held a 48-2 lead at the half and ending the game with a 72-16 win. This was a game where everyone played and contributed whether it was points, a steal, a deflection or rebound everyone got on the board! Jada Hunter ‘23 was on fire dropping 26 points and grabbing 9 steals. Aleyah Harmon ‘25 had 10 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kaia Foster chipped in 8 points while Jene Wells ‘23 had 6 points, 6 steals and 4 deflections! Other Falcons to note: Julia White ‘22, Kendyl Chin ‘22 had 6 points respectively.
The much anticipated league matchup versus Vista Del Lago was up next at Vista. The Falcons got out to a very slow start. Unable to grab the necessary rebounds needed, convert on the offensive end, and the ladies trailed by 14 at the half. Hoping to turn things around in the second half… the falcons were able to gain some momentum and get within 9, a few calls didn’t go our way and unable to get anything going on the offensive end, Vista pulled away beating the The Lady Falcons 48-31. Kaia Foster ‘24 led the way with 10 points, followed by Leah Nelson ‘24 with 7 and Aleyah Harmon ‘25 with 5.
They are now 22-4 (overall) and 10-1 (league).
The ladies will have one more shot at tying for League Champs on 2/14 7pm. It’s a Blue out day! So Falcon Faithfuls come out and support your girls!
The ladies are also eyeballing their first playoff home game on 2/17. The opponent has not been announced, but again please come out and cheer on these ladies in their quest for a trip to the D2 Section title game!
Men's Basketball
Freshman: The Men’s Freshman Basketball Team finished their season on a high note with a 3-0 week and a CVC League Championship.
On Monday the Frosh played El Camino at home and prevailed 57-27.
Andrew O’Neil, Sean Romero, and Isaiah Jordan led the way.
Friday was a heated battle with Vista del Lago which saw the Falcons prevail 64-52 and a League Championship clinched. Marcus Salud, Phil Bell, Steph Hewitt, and Eljhae Bains all pushed the Frosh over the top.
Saturday brought the season finale against a reenergized Sac High team.
True to form the Falcons prevailed 67-55. Stephan Hewitt, Marcus Salud, and Steve Williams led the way in the final.
The Freshman finished the season 21-2 and 9-0 in CAL league play.
Varsity: The Falcons played 4 games in 6 days last week taking on some of tough top seeded divisional opponents. While the falcons played hard and together during those games, they only managed to win 1.
Senor Night Friday, the Falcons were led by Senior John Marengo and Kamari Simpson while holding off a late game push by Vista Del Lago. With the game tied the Falcons executed an inbounds play to free up Simpson who makes a layup as time expired giving the falcons the 65-63 victory.
In the falcons other 3 games this week they faced the top 3 teams of the division. Capital Christian, El Camino, and Sac high. Although the Falcons lost these contests, they executed and played overall better games vs these opponents. while there are no moral victories the falcons came out of those games with their heads high and looking forward to a big off-season for building into the next year.
The Falcons play their final regular season game tonight as they travel to play Vista del Lago.
