Cross Country:
Elverta, CA – After nearly an inch of rain the day before, Gibson Ranch was the perfect XC venue for Flat Sac. Soft dirt, cloudy conditions, and a few sprinkles were perfect condition for a lot of medals and one Champions Trophy for the CB Cross Country team. Starting with the 9th/10th Women’s race, Tara Cooper once again led all CB runners with a 4th place finish. Combined with two fantastic races by Yvonne Nguyen and Arabella Lobo, CB was able to secure a 3rd place finish in a very competitive race. Up next was the 9th/10th Men’s race, which would also provide some ‘season’s best’ for CB. Leading the group was Alex Potter (2nd), followed closely by Andrew Thomson (4th), Neel Manchandra (6th), Will Pletcher (8th), and Edwin Sperring (9th). This low score, among small school racers was enough to earn CB a First Place Team finish. Moving to Varsity, the CB Falcons finished a respectable 3rd in a very competitive race. While missing Junior, Allie Moya and 9th grader Ella Johl, the rest of the team came to run. The Elises (Henderson and Perkins) finished 1 and 2 for CB, with Marina Noey finishing 3rd for the Falcons. Junior, Shannon Wong finished number 4 with senior, Natalie Stone, rounding out the team scoring for the Falcons. For the varsity men’s team, Ryan Dong appears to be retuning to full strength as he led the Falcons to a small school championship in today’s race. Ryan’s 3rd place followed by, and 8th place for Sam Nealon, 10th for Reign Saldana, 13th for Sami Bateman, and 29th for Tyler Simi were enough to hold off the competition to bring home the Champion’s Trophy! In the JV races, Jenna Martinez earned a medal finishing 8th in her race, while the JV Men were able to finish in 2nd overall with Bradley Bertossa leading all Falcons runners.
Heading into CAL Finals on Thursday, CB seems poised to compete with annual powerhouses Vista and Rio Americano. Good luck in Champs Falcons!

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the girls on winning Back-to-Back League Championships with their great play yesterday! Nicole had very steady round, making 14 pars (with 12 out of 13 fairways hit and 14 out of 18 greens in regulation). She led us with a 76. Brie shot 77 and also made 14 pars, showing her great consistency. Cali was amazing yesterday with 13 pars and a 78 (39-39). She beat her fellow competitor from Vista by 25 strokes! Alison had 3 birdies on her way to a 79, while providing great senior leadership, and Hannah shot even-par on the back 9 and shot 80. What a great comeback! Maddy had a little bit of an off-day for her (since she has been so spectacular lately), Having a very deep team is such an asset as we enter the playoffs. Thanks to the Staggs for the great sack lunches! I can't believe that we didn't get a team picture yesterday after winning a championship. We'll take one when we get the championship banner! We had five girls make the All-League Team (which consists of the top 12 league-point earners). Nicole finished 5th with 146.5 points. Brie got 6th with 145.5, Maddy finished 8th with 135.0 points, Hannah got 10th place with 132 points and Alison finished 12th with 126.5. Cali almost made it, as she finished 14th. Again, what depth we have!
