And just like that, the Falcons season comes to an end. As the 13th seeded, CB traveled down to Modesto to play the 4th seeded Central Catholic Raiders and lost in a close game 2-1. It was a pitcher's dual from the first inning on, both pitchers allowing less than 4 runs combined. For our Falcons, Jack Soares('23) threw an absolute gem, going 6 full innings and allowing 2 runs. Offensively, CB had trouble making solid contact as the Raider's pitcher proved to be stout all game. He gave up a run in the top of the 6th inning because of a single from Jake Elorduy('22). But in a pitcher's dual like this, one run has proven to not be enough. With a final score of 2-1, the Raiders advance to the second round of the playoffs where they will take on the Lincoln Fighting Zebras.
Although the season was not as the Falcons hoped, the grit and determination from the team proved to be a vital part in all of their wins this season. Looking ahead to next year, the Falcons have a strong returning pitching staff. If they can continue to put the ball in play, more runs will come. And with that being said, the 2022 CB Baseball season has officially come to a close.
And finally, a big thanks to all of the seniors that played this year. These players include: Sami Bateman #3, Issac Stone #4, Jake Tandy #6, Giovanni Munoz #7, Jake Elorduy #8, Carter Bolnik #9, and Giacomo Delpiero #15.
