This past Friday, Christian Brothers took on the Lincoln Fighting Zebras in an extremely foggy playoff matchup. Both teams fought hard throughout its entirety, despite the harsh weather conditions. The Falcons took a 21-7 lead in the third quarter, putting together multiple productive drives. The game kicked off with touchdown pass to Phillip Bell('25) from Jake Elorduy('22), after Lincoln got in the endzone on their opening drive. We then took the lead in the second quarter, with a short rushing touchdown from Jackson Burleson('22). The defense was holding their own, only allowing 7 points until late in the 3rd quarter. Ezekiel Jackson('22) and Avante Lee('22) both recovered a fumble, and Demonte Robinson('22) had a great interception as well. One of the biggest plays of the game came from Brian Shine('22) with an incredible blocked punt and was scooped up by Avante to reel in another touchdown. This would put us up 21-7 in the third, with time ticking down. The Fighting Zebras were able to bounce back with a 15 yard passing touchdown and a 59 yard rushing toucdown. This tied the game up at 21-21 in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, Lincoln took back a 75 yard pick 6 late in the game to put them up 28-21. CB had one last chance to keep their season alive, but they fell a little short, bringing their season to an end.
Our Falcons had a very interesting season, fighting with injuries and trying to bounce back to get a playoff spot. However, they were able to win the round 1 matchup against Rodriguez, even after competing with these obstacles. It's unfortunate that our season had to end like this, but they gave it their all and fought hard every day. We hope to see them come back next year, with high hopes for a successful season. Hold your heads high Falcons!
