The Christian Brothers Falcons completed an undefeated 1st half of their season today at the CAL #1 Tour-nament. CB beat five other teams posting a 404 18 hole score. The score represents the lowest score in the last 9 years for any CB Women's golf team. CB's score outlasted Vista Del Lago (444), Rio Americano (489), El Camino (534), Del Campo (575) and Capital Christian (589).
CB's low scores were Alison Oliveira '22 at 77 and Maddy McFall '24 at 78. The team score of 404 shows a real step forward from all their previous scores. This team feels like they can still improve on their performance and can not wait to take on the second half of the season.
The Lady Falcons entered the second week of the season unde-feated as they faced off against their toughest foe of the year – mother na-ture! Tuesday’s battle against rival Vista Del Lago had to be postponed after a burst of heavy rain soaked everything in Folsom. Stay tuned for the rematch!
The defending co-champions of the Capital Athletic League got back on the court Thursday as the girls hosted El Camino High School. The team looked like it was in mid-season form as they grounded the Lady Eagles in a dominating 9-0 sweep.
In singles play, Fiona Babcock '21 (4-0, 4-1), Bianca Cabanag '21 (4-1, 4-0), Lena Mikacich '22 (4-2, 4-0), Ai-Linh Tran '21 (4-0, 4-0), Lola Jan '21 (4-1, 4-0) and Emma Emigh '21 (4-0, 4-0) all powered their way to easy victories.
On the double side, a pair of sisters teamed up to dominate. Mariana Garcia '21 and Jamie Ancog '23 as well as Sophia Garcia '21 and Ashley Ancog '23 both won by identical 4-0, 4-0 scores.
The team also sharpened their skills in exhibition matches with Simone LeForestier '22 sweeping her singles match 4-0, 4-0 and Elizabeth Stevens ’22 and Jolie Utter ’24 (4-0, 4-1) and Malia Scullary ’23 and Alessandra Salvini ’23 (4-2, 4-1) winning in doubles.
After a long pause on all sports we were finally able to play our first game on Saturday March 13th. Not only was it the first game, but it was the first game in the new Peter Bollinger Stadium. CBHS was scheduled to play Roseville HS, however, due to covid that game was canceled and we were able to last minute schedule a game against Granite Bay HS. After many months of waiting, the team was finally able to play. Unfortunately, CBHS Falcons lost to GBHS 40-22. A bright spot of the game was our running back/special teams returner Darius “DJ” Crowther ’22 who had 3 touchdowns and an 87 yard kickoff return. In addition to DJ, we had Tommy Milton ‘21 who scored the final 2 points of the game in the 4th quarter. Next up is our Senior Night, where the CBHS Falcons will take on the Sac High Dragons at CBHS on March 19th at 7:30 PM.
