Due to the continual rise in COVID-19 cases, the California Department of Public Health has postponed the announcement of its updated youth sports guidance. For now, all full practice and competition start dates are officially on hold until updated guidance is issued. The earliest expected return date is January 1st, 2021, but athletes should prepare for a later date. CIF recognizes this news is upsetting, but are still pushing to provide Season 1 student-athletes with the best opportunity to compete. To do this, The CIF State Office is removing all Regional and State Championship events from the Season 1 Sports calendar. With this removal, more student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate in a longer season, rather than a shortened season with Regional and State post-season play for a limited number of schools. Another delay is extremely disheartening to all athletes, but it is essential to take advantage of this time for individual skill and strength development.
