Cross Country:
Frogtown (Subsection) Wrap Up – 11/5/22
Another day of racing and our Falcons did it well. Over the years I have explained that to understand whether you have raced well or not, you must assess your overall race, your pace (time), or place. With all that in mind, it’s rare when everything aligns, and a runner accomplishes all three. Today was a day when the runners needn’t accomplish all three because the reality is that it was a qualifier for the big one next week. Next week’s Section Finals gives bragging rights for Section titles, Championship Banners for the Varsity winners, and the coveted trip to Fresno on Thanksgiving weekend for the CIF State XC Finals.
All that said, our Falcon runners finished well and thus nearly everyone secured a berth into next Saturday’s Section Finals. Here are the results:
9th Grade Men – 2nd
9th/10th Grade Women – 1st
10th Grade Men – 1st (Alex Chavez finished first overall.)
JV Women – 2nd (Claire Carollo 2nd, Caitlyn Drew 3rd, Robin Sunada 6th)
Varsity Men – 2nd (Sam Nealon 3rd overall)
Varsity Women – 2nd (Elise Henderson 2nd, Alicia Romani 7th, Paige Rupert 10th)
Even though there we some good racing and even PRs, the JV Men’s team was unable to qualify as a team or individuals.
UP next: SJ Section Finals, Willow Hills Reservoir, Folsom CA, 11/12/22
