Cross Country
Lagoon Valley:
It was a beautiful day in Vacaville as CB cross country looked to confront two hills ominously named Big Momma and Little Sister. It was the first regional meet since COVID disrupted our lives in 2020. Although hot, and dusty, CB XC had an excellent showing against formidable opponents. When the dust settled, the 9th/10th grade team registered a 3rd place team finish behind Elise Henderson (7th), Ella Johl (17th), Tara Cooper (38th), Marina Noey (40th) and Amelia Silva-Snow (77th).
In the ninth-grade men’s race, Alex Potter led all CB runners with his 18th place finish out of the 140 runners. Joined by Alex Chavez, William Faust, Edwin Sperring, and Bromley Wyracuch, CB was able to finish eighth among the twelve teams in the race.
Allie Moya led CB women in the varsity race with a 12th place finish. Allie was supported by Shannon Wong, Jenna Martinez, Caitlyn Drew, and Paige Harty who combined for a third-place team finish. In the men’s race, tenth grader Sam Nealon led the team followed closely by Tyler Simi. Finishing off the team were Sami Bateman, Joaquin Hernandez, Bradley Bertossa, Nikos Burciaga, and Aiden Simi.
In other races:
Soph Men: Andrew Thomson led all CB runners followed by newcomer Preston Rabey. Brady Carson, Will Pletcher, Dominic Fontana, Adam Sunderman, and John Siddens.
JV Races: Men – Ryan Dong, coming off several weeks of reduced activity due to injury, got his legs under him by winning the JV race. Nicholas Gustafson continues to improve his racing and times finishing ahead of all other CB runners. Mikey Petilla also continues his comeback with a commendable 14:54 two-mile race against Big Momma and Little Sister. In the women’s race, Victoria Abrams and Izzy McCormick both achieved medals for their efforts.
Next up: Josh Ruff Memorial XC Invitational at Willow Hills, Folsom

Cheer
CB Cheer has been hard at work preparing for Holy bowl. We have been putting together sideline dances to entertain and lead.
I would like to highlight both of my head captains on JV and Varsity. This is Kaedyn Brown’s first year on CB cheer and has already shown so much leadership, hardworking and willingness to learn how to lead a squad. This Friday proved just that, she led her first game without being nervous or missing a beat.
Sofia Zanzi is the varsity captain and Sofia goes above and Beyond her team , Sofia knows how to lead a team with making sure she is helping everyone else. Friday nights game Sofia led both Jv and varsity and did it without hesitation, Sofia knows what it takes to be a good leader, and is always ready to help out where she can.
