This past Saturday, our Falcons faced two of the top teams in Sacramento, Franklin and Folsom in a doubleheader scrimmage. The first opponent they faced was the Franklin Wildcats and they were ready to play. CB came out slow and was never able to pick it up. However, despite the lack of energy, there were bright spots throughout the game. Reliever Jack Soares('23) came and minimized the Wildcat's ability to hit, striking out a couple and keeping innings short. Along with Soares' effort, Dylan Drake('23) delivered an astounding RBI when the Falcon's needed it most. His hit motivated the Falcons to come out strong in their next game against Folsom.
The second game of their doubleheader started out quickly as the Falcons scored an early run. The bats were hot and it began with a leadoff single from Giovanni Munoz('22). They also avoided an early jam on the field because of Carter Bolnik's('22) strong comeback after walking the first batter. After that, it was smooth sailing for CB as they hit and pitched really well. Given it was a scrimmage, the pitching rotation was in constant movement, following Bolnik, Jake Tandy('22) came in and picked up where he(Bolnik) left off. He threw two full innings and had back to back 3 up 3 down innings. On the offensive side, Munoz conitnued his dominance, piecing a triple into the outfield. Tandy also had a triple and Soares had a strong double. The ball was flying off of the bat for the Falcons and it gave great optimism for the upcoming season.
CB has their first official game Saturday March, 5 at 11 A.M. against Bear Creek. Go CB!! FALCONS FIRST!!
